So I set my 65 coturnix eggs for hatch today, they arrived on the 9th, and were put in the incubator same day. Been keeping them right where they should be in terms of temp and humidity in an automatic turner. When I was removing them to set this morning, one was all busted up. Dents and a big crack in the shell which were absolutely not there when it went into the 'bator. It was all dried out so it has probably been that way for a while. But no smell, and no mess on the surrounding eggs. When I opened the shell up it just looked like a hard boiled yolk with dried albumin, no stink at all.
Is this what people refer to as an "exploding egg" and is it likely to reduce my hatch rate?
