broken eggs

I have some eggs I have noticed a hole in as if one of the chickens pecked it. I was wondering why they are doing that. If anyone knows it would be very helpful. Also if you know how to stop it. Thanks so much T<3T

If your chickens are eating eggs, they're going to do it shell and all. Eggshells are wonderful treats. If your hole is at the pointy end, your chickens might be laying them with very thin shells—too thin to withstand the impact with the nesting box. In that case, I'd invest in oyster shell, vitamin D, and deeper bedding in the 'boxes.

If they are not laying in nests more chance for and egg to break and is drops to the ground.
Could also be newly laying birds and their almost inevitable 'curiosity pecks'.
Is there just a dent in the egg or is it broken wide open?
