Hello! I am a new to the world of owning chickens. I have run into my first medical issue! One of my hens got caught when moving the range and seems to have hurt her foot. It is swollen at the base of the foot where the toes/nails attach. She has currently lost a nail and I was able to safely detach and clean up. She is segregated into a kennel and has been eating or drinking. She was laying eggs up until a week ago when I separated her to have a better look at her foot. I am unsure if to split it or tape it. It is currently not wrapped and is getting 1/8th of a aspirin in a berry twice a day ( 12 hour periods). I am willing to take pictures if that will help diagnose the issue. I asked the vet but there was no interest in helping a chicken. Please, any advice would be great! Thank you in advance!

I tried to take the best angles I could get! Thanks for your help everyone!

Can she walk on the foot?
It's been a few days, so I would give her a few more to see if the swelling goes down. Have you looked at the bottom of the foot to make sure there's no scabs or swelling there?

I do see some raised scales so it would be a good idea to rub some oil or vaseline into the legs and up underneath the scales of the feet and legs too. While you are at it, remove the hardened debris from the tips of her nails:)
