That's a great idea. If I ever have(and with horses and pigs and goats I probably will) a compound fracture I would probably do that. Well, I removed the "cast" after the second week and left her in with the smaller chicks to acclimate for two weeks. She's been out in gen pop for a week now and the leg is ever so slightly crooked, but unless you see her run (she has a little hitch in her giddyup) or know that she's the only red pullet that has green legs you would never pick her out.
