Last night, one of my silver laced wyandottes broke her leg. The break is up high, either in her knee joint or right above it I’m pretty sure. I wasn’t able to splint her leg or do anything but isolate her last night, since it was late and I didn’t have materials to make a splint. She ate well last night, but I’m not sure if she drank much, so I’m going to give her a bowl of water to make sure she drinks.
I don’t have a good picture of her leg, but I described it pretty well.
Could someone explain how to make a splint for higher breaks, how to put it on, and what materials I might need? I tried finding videos online but I didn’t find any of them to be helpful.
Any help would be appreciated.
This is the best photo I have of her leg- not very good. She won’t put any pressure on it though and everyone she’s fallen it’s just splayed out behind her. When I picked her up it just wobbled loosely when I walked.
