Excuse the typing - y othe arm is holding a duck with a presumably broken leg.

I'm going to try to set it with wrap - any suggestions?

Give her aspirin? I also have batril on hand ad a fw others.

Should her mate be kept with her in isolation (if we can catch hi m?)

I would keep her by herself and quiet. On the plus side if you can keep it wrapped nd her quiet birds heal quickly. Never had an adult with a broken leg. Did have a gosling this spring. I had to vet wrap it to it's body, it had nitted wihin a week. I kept it on for another week just to be on the safe side. The goose is totally fine now. I did take it to the vet, they said they couldn't help me because the break was to high on the leg. That and she was to small. Maybe a vet could help your duck? Best of luck.

Thanks - I've used the vet wrap and she's in the garage (infirmary/nursery) in a dog crate. Her mate is hanging out with the other ducks - very sweet though, he's guarded her until I took her away.

I gave her a bath too - I thought it might help her rehydrate as well as take stress off the bad leg - she seemed to love it.

Now - I 'm rather new to ducks and they've been eating whatever they find outside as well as the chickens food. What would be a good diet for recovery?
