Broken leg..

I have a hen that was given to me by my sister in law. She got caught between the house and the fence over there, and broke her leg at the knee. Her toes are warm, but she cant move the leg below her knee. She does hobble around and is otherwise in great health. Shes about a year old if not 2. We have put a temporary splint on her leg for now. Should i wait and see how it heals or should i go ahead and cull her??

She may have suffered permanent nerve damage, but splinting the leg and having her rest it for a couple of weeks might help her. A lot of this depends on how much time that you have to care for her, and if she is a family pet. If you could seek vet care, they might be able to realign the bones, or give you advice. Then again, you could crate her with or without the splint, forcing rest for 2-3 weeks, and then let her do as she will.
