I have a chick that is 2 weeks old. She somehow got her leg caught in the chicken wire and got out of our enclosure. Her leg is definitely broken. It is dangling and no reflexes when I manipulate it. I am a vet tech and we amputated a chick leg not long ago, but this one needs a little more time to grow. Can someone show me a good picture or video on an ideal splint until she is old enough to amputate? It appears to be broken up high. I’ll bring her in for xray tomorrow but want her to be as comfortable as possible until then. Thank you so much. (She is very small. She is a polish/silkieX)

So sad! Sorry that happened!

I'm thinking putting her in a sling so she stays off of it would be an idea. This is a thread with slings/chick chairs.

If you put her on a vitamin regimen and keep her immobilized, since she's only 2 weeks, couldn't that heal to avoid amputating it?
