Broken Leg!!!

Im pretty sure mines a roo but not sure yet... we considered amputation... not sure though.

I would get some vet wrap and tie it tightly around the leg. Put him where he can see with his flock. But don't put him with the flock because they might pick on him. Check up on him too.

Very light bantams can get about okay with just one foot but for large fowl, especially the heavy breeds, it puts far too much strain on their remaining muscles and joints to be fair on them. Not all broken legs will heal. Some will, some won't, and you can't tell which is which without an X-ray. Please consider the fact that if you try to splint or strap up this leg without knowing which kind of break it is, you could just be prolonging the misery for a hopeless case and causing the bird a lot of pain. Ditto that for amputation. This isn't just my own personal opinion, it's from a very talented avian vet with years of chicken experience.

its broken at the ankle i think... hes smaller then my othe4r birds but i dont know how old he is. I think hes prob about 3 or 4 months, my others are 4 mo.

gosh I am so sorry you are going though this, I am also having trouble with this same thing on a silkie of mine. I have had it in a small carier and giving it meds for infection becuse there was heat in the joint now the heat has gone away but somehow it got out of its isolation box, and got back in with the flock and the roo was matting/attacking it, it was laying on its side and the roo was still trying to mate with it. I pulled the roo off and took it our and loved on it and gave it some watter and then I noticed it could non even stand on the bad leg or feel the bad leg much like yours is doing. I wonder if it is out of joint will it go back by itself? good luck I so hope yours does well, I will be using advise I got from this so thank you everyone for your advise. My husbend and neighbor say just kill it, I keep saying gee if I break my leg dont bother droping over to see me...kinda scares me when people are so cold,
