Why Would Tail Feathers Of Year Old Hens Appear Broken/cut Off?

Do you have a rooster? Could they be overcrowded and pulling eachother's feathers? Usually they don't molt until around their second Autumn season, but they can have a partial molt......Have you checked for parasites?

Those are just a few questions that come to mind......

no parasites.
the feathers appear broken or cut. i will take a photo and post.
it is strange!!!
