We have a turkey chick (~4 weeks old) with a broken wing. It is sticking out on the underside, but pecking it's feathers on the top side of the wing. This chick's wing hasn't looked quite right from the time we got it (mail order), but it has been healthy, eating normally and didn't have any apparent wound. Now it's obvious that it must have been dislocated from the start, maybe during shipping.
However, now the wing bone is poking through the skin on the underside of its wing. Is it able to heal from this? Should I put antibiotic ointment on it and bandage it and hope for the best? Obviously we will separate it from the flock during this time, but wondering if this is something that can healed and reintegrated to the flock. Any advice is welcome!
