Brood box... quail habitat? ... out of a chest of drawers... pic inside!

I did it, you guys. Here's my indoor brood box for baby quail... and chickens... something like it could be used to keep adult indoor quail too. It took much longer than I expected to make it. I'll post a how-to eventually to my blog. In the meantime, I'm eyeing another chest of drawers in our basement and thinking I might just bring a flock of birds in the house...

Got a couple Easter Eggers, a RIR, two barred rocks, and a buff orp. They're a little older than I was hoping (a couple weeks, with the RIR probably three weeks), but they're super sweet. Yay for chicks!

Thanks! I can't take credit for the idea--I saw one like it on craigslist (they were asking $125 for it... now I understand why... it's $125 worth of time & trouble!). I've wanted to make one like it ever since... that was at least a year ago. Finally got around to it! And I love it. <3

Awesome. I love the idea of animal housing as furniture.

They do sell fancy litter boxes that look like end tables. =) Why not this?
