brood hen

My brood hen hatched out a couple pumpkin hulsey chicks and tossed them out of the nest box. I put them back in the nest and she grabbed them by the wing and tossed them out again. Never seen this before. Anyone know why this happened? Still sitting on eggs but I think they are no good.

Yek, is she a first time Mommy, if so, i would take those chicks out. I have a mommy hen who likes to peck babies in the head exposing there skulls and of course they adventurally die. So I would grab those babies and raise them myself. Sometime first time mommies don't get it the first time around, but usually understand by the second time or if they see another hen with babies then they get jeolous and do a better job the next time.

This hen has hatched 30 already this year. I put those chicks in my brooder.

Wow and she's rejecting the one. That's kind of strange unless she is waiting for the others to hatch which could be bad for the one she is rejecting...
