I have 4 Welsumer hens who just started laying. Suddenly 2 decided to set on me. From what I've read this is unusual for the breed but there it is. Well today the rooster made them leave the nest boxes! I haven't had a place to put them and they picked 2 nest boxes to occupy. I don't leave any eggs under them but they don't care, they don't want to move. Rudy said enough is enough and made them get out!
Anyone else ever seen this happen?

My husband saw it happen and told me more after I posted this. I have 2 flocks that just won't get together. Well, the young Welsumers picked nest boxes in the older chickens coop. So the big rooster chased them out. I'm only a little surprised at this. He doesn't want anything to do with the young chickens. He regularly beats up the young rooster of course.
Honestly, I expected Buddy, the older rooster, to want more girls but he doesn't. Rudy, young rooster, tries his best to take care of his girls and stay out of Buddy's way.
I love my chickens ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Never a dull moment.
