Here's a pic of my brooder. It is 4' x 4' and about 2' tall. I don't remember the costs, but I bet you could do it for around $50. If you can scrounge up the lumber for free, your only real expense would be the wire, lamps and litter. BTW, it has a 1/2 plywood bottom, which probably isn't thick enough without support underneath. I keep it on the ground. It is hinged on the opposite side. The wire is stapled on.
