Brooder bedding

If you do deep bedding in your brooder you won't need to scoop at all. Just plan on something like a final 8" max depth for the litter, start with 3" to 4" and just add when needed.

Here's my brooder. I never cleaned it out. It stayed clean and dry and when the chicks moved to their coop I transferred the bedding to their deep litter run:

chick mess compared to duck mess for me was like a 2 year olds mess and an 18 ton elephant who only ate taco bell

But pine shavings are my favorite
Definitely applies and oranges...:gig....Ducks are messy and poop every two seconds it seams..:lau

I wish i had a picture of when i made a little fenced area in my garage for them. i swear they pressed their buttholes to the fence and sprayed as far as they could.

It was litteraly 1.5 feet passed the fence like an oil painting

I believe you...Don't forget I raise Ducks myself..:sick

The pine sawdust shouldn't be any more dangerous than shavings. As far as them eating it? They eat the shavings anyway. This would be more bite size. I always include chick grit in the brooder from day one. This way the random things they eat are less likely to be a problem.
