Brooder bulb question?

So... I bought a white/clear bulb for the incoming chickies by accident... I meant to get a red. Does anyone know if it's safe to paint over the glass with transparent red nail enamel? I remember hearing it was OK but I can't find anything on it and I want to be sure it's safe... Otherwise I'll just go with the white.

I don't know if that would work well. I would be worried about the flumes from the coating when heated... might be toxic.

Yep, that's what I was thinking, but I KNOW I've read that somewhere... hmm. I don't think I'll try it...

I personally wouldnt paint over it. I use a clear bulb without any issues, because that was what was available at the time.

If you haven't used it yet, take it back and get a red one. DO NOT even think of painting it!

Mine's clear and I just put a small towel over a corner and they sleep just fine....
