Brooder Capacity

I don't know much about this stuff yet but I had 15 little girls in my 8 square foot brooder and they would have been too big/crowded by 4 weeks! Technically they could still be in it but I had a coop with electricity so I moved them out ASAP when they were 3 weeks old. My local feed store sells brooder boxes (meaning, chicks can be left in them until 8 weeks old) as follows:
16"x32" - 2-3 chicks
16"x48" - 4-5 chicks
24"x48" - 6-8 chicks

Are you saying you already have 11 chicks in approximately 10-11s/f AND you ordered more? Because those 11 will be crowded by the time they are 8 weeks, I can't imagine putting more in there comfortably for an extended period of time. HTH!

More was just thinking "Max" capacity. I have an 8x8 hen house I can use once everybody can stay outside / is off the lamp. Our nights aren't getting below 60 any longer. I plan on sweet talking the man of the house into making a custom four section brooder...so I may just have to get on that project sooner than later! I just sold 2 hens, 3 possibly 5 of my goslings. With only 8 total chickens left outside (6 hens and 2 roos) I am feeling VERY chicken deficient at the moment!
