Brooder extension?

No electric in the coop, and it won't be available for the little ones until I deep clean. I'm rotating flocks so my old girls need to go to my friends and I need to prepare it for the babies.

I like the binder clip idea. I might go with that. I'll do a heat plate in each, and probably food and water in each to start?
They'll want to go to "roost" together. IMO, it's better to put the heat plates right next to each other to keep them from battling for space under one

My chicks were a couple days shy of being 4 weeks old when I put them out this week. That's as young as I like to put them out.It can get down in the 30's in April here
Mine also went out last week on Wed at 5 weeks as Sun, Mon & Tue nights were close to 30. On Wed it was 48/49 and they were fine w/o heat. Plenty of straw and some shavings in a box, they ignored the box for warmth.

My broody's chicks feathered fast and were smart. She took them all around the yard and taught them to be on guard .They didn't stay underneath her 24/7
