Brooder for chicks

My chicks are 5 days old and the tote with a top to keep them warm looks a little small for 15 of them. Can I move them into a bigger open brooder or do they have to be in an enclosed warm area right now? And if so -- for how long?

I kept moving them into a bigger and bigger brooders until they were about 4 weeks old and it was hot enough at my house to let them into their coop which was enclosed. They were feathered out and they were big enough!

We also moved ours to a larger brooder. Behavior was better. They can be in an enlarged area as long as they have draft protection and a place to huddle under at the appropriate temperature for their age. Good luck!
