Crate is 4' x 3' I measured it this morning. Guess I'll just have to add a cardboard box on to the end to make it bigger. How long do you have to wait before you can put them out in a large coop?

Depends on your weather, if you have electric to the coop and if there are adults in there already.

These will be our first chicks so there are no adults yet and we'll be building the coop as soon as it warms up some. We can run electricity to it workout much trouble.

Crowd them and you run the risk of feather picking and other aggression based issues. Once those behaviors start, they may be impossible to break.
