I have my 16, yes you read that right, chicks in a pack n play homemade brooder in my house. They need to go outside. I have built a large coop/brooder for them in the garage. It is an 8x4 sheet if plywood on the bottom covered in shavings, with wood on three sides (two small and. One large) and chicken wire/hardware cloth on the remaining sides and top. I will have two brooder lamps going. The question is is it too cold to move them outside? The temps here in Charlotte nc are around 30 each night and 50-60 during the day. My chicks are almost 5weeks old. Thanks for the help. I'm new to raising chicks.

That was my brooder last winter. Not sure I want to ever do that again, but yes. You can absolutely brood chicks in a garage. Today is the first day of Spring, so you're not likely to face temperatures anywhere near what I faced last winter.

BTW, I didn't lose a chick.
