I don't use a thermoter. I go by their behavior. They will let you knowif they're too cold or hot by the way they act. I give mine treats. They love plain yogurt, I mix started feed in with it, also bananas, hard boiled eggs, strawberries, bread, ours are rotten! you can also give them poly vi sol vitamins without iron, and a teaspoon of apple cider vinager in their water to help with vitamin absorbion. And another thing to think about for us western folks is earthquakes...sounds so remote, but a little slight jiggle of the world and that board will plop in the shavings and poof...not a pretty sight!
