I acquired an old brooder and I'd like to try and restore it. The label says The National Ideal Company out of Toledo, which apparently is no longer in business. Does anyone out there have suggestions about this? The brooder is quite large, probably 40+" square. Wondering if I could use the "bones" of it and just replace the electrical parts. Thanks !! Cool. Have you got more pics.

I see a lamp socket, wafer themostat, and what is that big round thing? A propane heater?
It's electric, so don't think it's anything propane. I wondered if the big round thing is a heating plate, but then what would the lamp socket be for? More investigating, since it's still too cold to play in the dirt.......

Hum. Looks like it has electricity down to the little white box. I guess that is an electric heating element. That is probably the only part you would have trouble finding but hey it might still work. Things were made better back in those days. I think I would open up the white box and rewire it if it works.
