i made this brooder and its all decked, i have to keep them in it for 6 weeks so i made it 3,5,2 i put hardware cloth over the top and i just set up my light.
the 250 watt comes close when it is sitting on top of the cloth but not enough so i cut a hole in the cloth and fed the wire through and my 125 isnt hot enough, but the 250 is way to hot
im ticked and my head hurts

Adjust the height to change temp. of the 250. Just put a thermometer under lamp and adjust a few inches at a time until you get the right temp. Chicks will also move out of the lamp (too hot) or be huddled under it (too cold). How tall/deep is your brooder ?

its two feet tall, but the cone makes it to long to move the 250 up any higher

i have a cat, and she would love to get ahold of my chicks
