Hello looking for a little advice.
I have a dz soon to be 5 week old chicks that are living in a brooder box in my basement.
I live in eastern Ontario and was wondering if I can move them to a coop that is not insulated?
Do I need to provide them a heat source? Or an other alternative is to build a bigger brooder box and put them in my insulated garage. I have a wood stove in there that I can stoke for them on cold nights.

Answers will vary on breed, ambient temps and coop. They are old enough to ween off heat and transition now probably. Treat it wit attention and the birds will tell you if they are not ok.

Gradually bring temp down now and make sure the coop is draft free. Move and watch for cold snaps and behavior. If it's too cold from brooder to coop use a controlled heater to regulate and drop them slowly.

More information about temps, coop setup, current brooder temps, breeds etc could help with answers.
