1 of my 3 hens is brooding. Originally 3, now 2 eggs. A rooster & 2 more hens share the coop. If the eggs hatch, it should be soon. I know I can do research but it's easier to ask pros. What should I plan for if they hatch? Do I have to keep her separate from the others or not?

Hi and welcome to BYC. I let my broody mommas hatch in the main coop and do not keep them separate from the rest of the flock, but i know that other members do. I'd suggest reading up on the subject so you can make a decision that suits you.

I let my broody hens hatch and raise their chicks in the coop with the rest of the flock, though the moms like to keep to themselves while busy with the little ones. It happens, but rarely, that other flock members will attack and kill chicks, so be prepared to move the little family, if needed. A good broody mom will not take nonsense from others and protect her babies though.

As for feeding them, the chicks will need chick starter, layer feed has too high a calcium content, which could cause organ damage if fed over a long period, so they should be fed separately, or the entire flock switched to an "all flock" feed, with oystershell, or something similar supplied on the side for the egg layers, as calcium supplement.
