Brooders for Pheasant Chicks

Tony K T-- The brooder pen pictures, how many pheasants can be put in one brooder. The pen you have is the same size we are going to use. I don't want to over crowd them. We are looking to get day old peeps. Thanks!!

I'm glad someone posted because I didn't see your question until 5/3.I've had as many as 25 chicks in a brooder.As they get older about 3 weeks I have 4x4 brooders I put them in.If you look at the pic,the top and middle brooders are 4x4 and the bottom is 2x4.I have anothe brooder set up for the first 3 weeks of brooding,there are 8 of these that are 2x4.So in all I have 20 brooders ready for hatching season.

Tony, how do you heat your brooder setup?

The first 2 weeks I use a 250 watts heat bulb.I can raise and lower temps by putting pieces of luan.The 2nd week a 100 watt bulb,3rd 75 watt,4th 60 watt,5th 40 and the 6th a 25,more for light then heat.With 2 250's going from the start the room itself stays pretty warm.My male temminick came off the nest with 3 chicks from 4 eggs.The hen is setting on another 3 eggs.
