Broodie hen is expecting - signs?

Oh that is great to hear! I'm trying not to bother her but I am popping my head in the door just to check every so often, and as soon as I see a propper little live chick out of its egg - i am going to go banana's!!!

We have to trust our broody. If it is really hot she may be spreading them out underneath her to adjust temp. Or getting ready to "cull" some. Momma hen knows best!

When my broody hatched eggs they squeaked for 2 days. I couldn't stand the suspense! But when you see that fuzzy face peeking out....WOW

I know what you mean about suspense! It is driving me nuts! When mumma went for a scratch this morning i noticed one has pipped, but since she has sat back down i dont know whats happening! Spose thats the beauty of viewing windows in bators, someone needs to create a new breed of hen with see through feathers!

Chicken cam! I just bought a little remote camera at Harbor Freight. My DH is going to hook it up tomorrow since I just set eggs under our broody silkie today. Hope to see some peepers in 3 weeks!

see through feathers would be great for viewing the babies. I'm going to try my luck with a couple broody hens this spring hopefully. Good luck with yours she seems like a great momma... can't wait to see pics when the chicks hatch.

I have 2 BCM that allow me to lift them up frequently to check on the progress. Usually the day or two before they hatch she will turn her back on the rest of the chickens and sit backwards in the nest box.
