Broodie?!

I have a barred rock that has been hanging out in a nesting box as of late. I have had a few other rocks seem to be in the boxes more then normal but this one seems to be keen on it. She has moved around a few times but now she seems to have claimed one of the boxes as her own. I have not had chickens long (1+ year). So I am wondering if she is broodie, is there any way to know for sure? If she is I might just buy some fertile eggs to see if she will sit on them, is there any tips on doing that ,again that is a first for me.
