so we have a bit of a heat wave at the moment, today was 37 degrees Celsius and tomorrow is going to be 40. I have 19 eggs under a broody that should hatch in 5 days. I was concerned about them becoming "overcooked" because the outside temperature is so extreme for this time of year, but she is so smart, she got off them about 2:30pm and has only just got back on them now at 8:30pm, I checked on them a few times and they were still quite warm throughout that 6 hour period, and she kept watch over them the whole time. Nature really does know best

Absolutely she does! Its great to see chicks bombing around the place with mum in the garden. I hatch chicks often - just cos i like having them around - then i end up giving them away which is probably not so smart, but never mind.

That's great! It's amazing just how smart that mother hen is.
