I've got 2 mille fleur cochin girls that both went broody and sharing the same nest. The rooster is still in the pen too and is a very good 'hubby' to them, talking to them all day even tho they're both in the nest.

What i'm wondering, if i allow them to have chicks, will they fight over them or share the duties?

and will the roo cause problems or accept his new 'family'?

and how many chicks do you think they could handle if they do share the duties?

if it's unlikely they will share or the roo might cause problems, then i'll probably break the broody cycle, as I don't have any other spare pens to separate them into. but I'd like to pawn off all these hatching eggs to a broody or 2 if i can, since i have vacation planned in a few weeks and would like to have everyone outside so my caretaker doesn't have to go into the house.

There's really no way to predict how it will turn out. Some hens share their brood, some not. I've had 3 all share the same brood; that's the only time I've had more than one with chicks.
