Brooding Outside From Day 1

Wanted to say thank you for this detailed posting and pictures. Sorry about the challenges you faced though!

It was this post that helped me to get my Cornish x chicks set up to brood outdoors at three days old. Next year they will go outside as soon as I pick them up. We had a great set up by sectioning off part of the big coop using raised garden section walls I've used for whelping puppies in the past. It kept them protected from wind and they could come and go under the brooder plates. I believe the normal light cycle helps a lot and they feathered out fast. They were all loose free range foraging by three weeks. I loved brooding outside and can't wait to try it a bit earlier in the season next year. Thanks for giving me the motivational post that enabled this!
