My blue silkie hen has been broody since at least Tuesday the 24th (I noticed when I got back from vacation) and I've kinda been letting her stay on the easter egger eggs only because I've been wanting to hatch some of their eggs with the splash silkie rooster I have. This is the third time I've hatched eggs with a broody and at this time I've usually been able to tell whether or not the chick is forming when I candle the eggs (its been around eight days). Could this be because the rooster hasn't been mating the EE's? I only have seven other hens, and I don't see him mating them that often... I'm just surprised I can't see anything growing. Any advice?
