brooding turkey question

Hello, I have been told so many things about how long to brood turkeys. Was told as soon as they feather out that it's fine to put em on the ground. I tried this and lost every poult. The other day an old timer told me to wait till they are about the size of a full grown chicken. How long do you guys brood before putting your turkeys on the ground?

Thanks, sounds like a plan to me. I have a few Blue Slates in the bator. I can't lose these, they belong to the wife

I have a couple outdoor brooders. I'll be figuring on makin one water tight for them and yes we do get those storms in the summer months. thanks for the info guys, I can use all the advice I can get.
