Can turkeys and chickens be brooded together the first few weeks in the same brooder , feeding them a 20 % protein starter, and keeping the heat between 90° and 95°? or is it best brood them totally separate ?

I always start my turkeys with week old chicks. They stay together for a minimum of 4 weeks. Had 1 silkie too stay with the poults for 2 months. The chicks are smarter than the poults when it comes to eating and drinking so they play tutor.

I would give them more protein. I think I was giving them 22% when I got a batch of lots of chicks with a few poults. Keep in mind, turkey starter has 28%.
