I ordered ten gold and silver wyandottes from the bergs hatchery this spring ended up with two golds that I'm able to keep, a pullet and a cockerel. I was wondering:
#1- how old are chickens when they begin to go broody and hatch chicks
#2- is it safe to hatch chicks in winter
I understand that some may not make it, but I would have a heat lamp in the coop, also, I would like to keep my GLW bloodline going, so I'd like to hatch some chicks from them before something happens, so far as long as they stay in the little coop, they are ok. I bring them outside every once in a while to graze under my supervision, but they then go back into the coop.
Any tips or advice?
