My silkie/easter egger mix is 26 weeks and not an egg from her yet. I noticed over the last few days she's been making little nests in the coop and run where she sits most of the day. She still gets up from time to time, but while the others are running around, she's in her mini nest. Is there a chance this is a sign she's getting ready to lay (she recently stopped checking out the nest boxes) or is she trying to go broody without eggs? It's just very strange.

I would guess that she is getting ready to lay.

I hope so. She started squatting and checking out the boxes a month ago. Her hatchmates started laying a week ago. We've been waiting not so patiently.
