So I have chicks coming tomorrow and we have no electricity. No word on when it'll be back. We don't have a generator. Daytime temps here are in the high 80s to low 90s and it gets hotter in my garage. At night it's in the low 70s. Has anyone brooded chicks without any electricity for heat?

Can you call the power company and ask for an update? My chicks sleep with the hen at night so I cant really help. But those temps are not too bad I think if they are in a enclosed box with adequate ventilation they would be fine.

I've never done it before, but if I was in your situation I would go pick up some hot water bottles and set up something like a mama hen heating mat cave only with the hot water bottles on top then throw a blanket over the entire brooder.

Day they should be ok. For night, can you possibly pick up some disposable hand warmers? They're supposed to last 10 hours, which would get you through night time.

Otherwise hot water bottles wrapped with a towel, but you'd need to refill and replace them as they cool down.
