Brooding

Hello there and welcome to BYC!! :frow

Is she setting on fertile eggs? If not, she is just doing her broody thing. They can stay broody for some time until their hormones change. There are ways to break them of being broody, however I have found it is best for the bird if you let nature take it's course.

Good luck with your flock and welcome to ours! :)
thank you.yes they are fertile and I'm a big one for nature's course. My partner puts some seed in the nesting box with her occasionally.could that disturb her in any way

I am not a fan of them eating food in the nest boxes that will get lost in the bedding, although a hand held treat does help broodies. They can have a tendency not to eat or drink enough while setting, so I pull them off the nest maybe 4 times a day? Some broodies take good care if themselves and others dont.

Good luck with your broody! :)
