Broody abandoned nest after a week

So I had a broody who decided to swap nests after about a week. When I checked on the eggs they were cold. I went ahead and brought them in and let them warm up and put them in the bator. I candled, and see some veining but didn't seem like 7 days' worth, and I couldn't detect any movement within at all. I'm thinking they're all gone . How many days should I let them be before candling again?

The eggs were cold but she had been in my house recovering from being the boys favourite duck
My house isn’t as cold as outside
But we are now on day 22 and babies are doing great
If you are seeing veins I would let them continue. They may be delayed in hatching depending how long she was off the nest
If only a few hours it shouldn’t make a difference. But a day may

My broody did this a couple weeks ago.
She was off the nest for a couple hours at least. I took them in and let them warm to room temp while the incubator warmed up.
Out of 6 eggs- 5 made it to lockdown. 2 have hatched over the last 4 days. 3 others are on day 18 today.
As long as there is veining/ development I would try. At this point you don’t have much to lose. Good luck

Just wanted to update and ask a followup question. I might need to make a separate post, but I'll try here first.

So, I see definite movement in about 8 of the 14 I threw in. Another 2 I think I can see the embryo but doesn't seem to be moving. The others I think stopped developing altogether, I don't see an embryo at all. They all have veining, so I'm keeping an eye on the others, since they all appear to be at different stages. But I'm thinking that at the very least I know they've been in the bator for 5 days, and I only set the ones that I was pretty sure had some veining (couldn't find my candler at the time and my phone didn't do a great job lol). So I should at least see SOMETHING other than veining at this point, no?

Now the question: Onyx clearly was adding eggs to her clutch after sitting. So I can tell some are looking to be around a week, while others look closer to 2. How do I handle lockdown and hatch when they're up to a week apart?? I only have one incubator.

I myself found a second bator second hand when I did my staggered hatch
If you can’t find one to borrow or get cheap I understand as it’s very costly
In that case I would look for the signs to stop turning only the ones that show shadowing along lower air cell, eggs rocking and air cells dropping forward quickly
Then continue to watch for internal pips
At that time I would bump up humidity bit continue to turn the other eggs until you see an external pip then keep bator closed till they are hatched.
The turning is most important In early stages so if you need to stop turning the younger of the group by week 3 you should be fine

Do you think a cheap still air with no Turner would work ok just for the ones closer to pipping? My TSC had those in stock but I've only ever used my automated forced air one lol

Yes you can use a still air incubator for hatching. Just make sure to have a separate thermometer and hydrometer to check what comes on the incubator. Also make sure the prob on the incubator sits the same way each time.

Just wanted to update that they all have movement now!! It will be interesting to see how many days apart they all hatch
