Broody and Bald

My two year old hen has gone broody. I keep removing her from the nest to try and discourage her, but she keeps returning. The real question is this: Her feathers on her butt, belly, and now on her breast have all fallen off or be plucked out! She look awful. She also seems to have runny yellow poop. She seems OK, otherwise. Eating and drinking and alert. Is she molting? Do hens pull their feathers out to put skin contact to the eggs? Any advice?

You might try to "Break" her, look up Breaking a broody. She will have to be put where she can't get to the nest. I usually put mine in a wire bottom cage. Some are harder to break than others.
