I have a little Millie Fleur Bantam who has been sitting on a batch of eggs for a few weeks. she has 1 duck egg, a few bantam eggs, and a WLH egg. I don't know why she chose to go broody, but she got to these eggs before we found them and has been sitting on them for a few weeks now. They seem warm and she only leaves to get food or drink. Do you think they will hatch? I noticed that there are a few nearby that she won't sit on and am wondering if she knows they are not fertile. I have never had a broody before and am really confused. How long does it take to hatch eggs? Will she abandon them if they are infertile or they die?

How long does it take to hatch eggs?

Approximately 21 days.

Will she abandon them if they are infertile or they die?

Only if she's smarter than my hens! It takes them about 40 days to give up!

Will I know if they aren't going to hatch? I'd candle them, but I don't know how.

your duck egg will take longer than 21 days but i am not sure how many days exactly. but my bantam has 2 more eggs to go and 4 chicks hatched during last week and she is still determined to get these last 2 eggs to hatch.
