I use the flashlight on my phone to candle.

I could set up a temporary partition fence around the existing box ?

It isn't required. Some prefer to confine the broody for the reasons Aart mentioned. I prefer not to as I want my broody to get her flock mate visits.

@DobieLover, @aart, Thanks again for the lessons. I really appreciate it ! You, among a select hand full of others, are why I visit BYC daily !

I think I'll go with the more "natural" (easy for me) approach, and give access to the whole coop/run, and allow the flock mates to visit, and see what happens. I'm retired, and I'm always outside around the property/coop anyway, so removing a few eggs a day will be no big deal .....

Besides, Tarasita the broody Barred Rock, is my favorite, and is deserving of some extra attention, especially now !

I'm excited, as I've never experienced this natural wonder before ! Thanks agin for easing my fears !

Yep.
I've never found an errant egg though. I start off with an egg count. It's always been the same number as what I've set under every hen.
