Broody behavior?

So we have had chickens about a year now but of course this time last year they were babies and not yet laying. If/when I have a hen decide to go broody will she sit on the nest from the very first egg? I have a couple that will sit for a few hours but then leave and show absolutely no interest in the egg again. I normally gather my eggs daily but don’t wanna gather a broody chickens nest eggs.

Gathering eggs will not stop hens from going broody. You could always put artificial/nesteggs in the nests. When a hen stays in the nestblox overnight for two nights, she is 'for sure' broody.

Ok thank you so I’ll just keep gathering and leave some fakes and see. I kinda figured she wouldn’t let me take them if she truly was broody. I just thought I would ask because everyone on here is so helpful. Thank you
