Henrietta (see avatar) is broody... AGAIN. I'm questioning jail because she's not spending excessive time on the nest, just fluffing and clucking the ticking timebomb cluck of doom. My alpha is outright attacking her on back of neck.

Do I broody jail this early or will locking her out of the coop suffice?

Pretty sure I already know the answer, I'm just *hoping* for a different one. She's my most sensitive, affectionate girl and takes isolation really hard but I don't want to wait if full broody is inevitable.

I always begin breaking them immediately, as I believe the sooner you do it the easier it'll be to break them. Others will wait until the hen is fairly well set in being broody before breaking them, I guess the idea there is some hens think about being broody but then give up without ever committing.

I vote to break early.

Right now I am battling 5 broody butts in a coop with 6 nest boxes and 22 birds.

I don't isolate but they do take turns in the broody breaker box inside the coop. They can still see and be seen.
