You see, broodiness is an instinct to hatch out eggs, and is usually triggered by a nest full of eggs in a dark, safe looking place. Since chickens can't tell the difference between eggs and other round things, many people put out golf balls in the nests to encourage broodiness. When I tried to encourage my hens to go broody, I put 14 golf balls out in a nest, and when that didn't work, I tried real eggs. I realized that I was wasting eggs though, so I got 14 Easter eggs, painted them brown, and put them in the nest. With in a week my buff orpington hen was broody.
I moved her to a place of her own where she could raise her chicks and left her with five Easter eggs(chickens can't count, so it didn't matter how many she had). Since some hens can just quit being broody, I waited a week to see if she'd stop. When she didn't, I gave her six real eggs, and she hatched out four.
I would advise you use easter eggs for encouraging her to sit, for as you can see it worked for me. About your question, yes, that would probably trigger her broodiness within a week or two. Good luck!
