Something I love about chickens: they have a diligent way of living life to the fullest, unaffected by cares or worries. Here is Lala on what she has chosen as her nest, where she has been sitting 23.5 hours per day lately, tending, cooing, and protecting a little pile of wood shavings. Will the shavings hatch into fluffy chicks for her to teach the ways of the hen? I doubt it. But she will be a wonderful mama to them for another three weeks or so, then she will carry on with other important chicken business like scratching, pecking, darting around after bugs and rolling in the sun-warmed dirt.

Aw, thats nice of you to say. When she's sitting up straight, she has a more unique look. I can't explain why, but she kind of reminds me of the character Wolverine from the X men!
