So my Buff Orpington has been broody for just over 4 weeks, her eggs didn't hatch and then her old owner offered me some day old chicks. Last night I got them and put them under her and my hand got a beating!, this morning I went up to find a happy mama!, she has a Welsummer and a Speckled Sussex :D :

What a stink eye that is, what a protective mother she looks to be! (i'd stay away from her

) Cute babys, can't wait for pics when they get older!

Thanks! :), you should have seen her stink eye when she was on eggs, it was ALOT worse!

I had a BO go broody who was as gentle as a lamb. Never pecked at me. Just as sweet as can be. And unfortunately, this left her vulnerable to bullying from the other hens and I had to separate her. Took some doing but finally got everyone to get along. So as vicious as these broodies can be, I think I'd take a protective one over a docile one. She's adorable and looks pretty happy to be a mama.
