My Buff Sussex has been laying eggs and sitting on them longer and longer ... so i thought HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

She'll be one year old come July!

So .. today i went to check for eggs and she's on the nest, so i check back later , still on the nest ! I open the door and her friends runs out to the green grass and she pounces out of her nest and out she goes but when one of the hens come near hr she kind of jump attackec the poor thing and began to cluck, i went to lift her and she began to go "CLUCK CLUCK RAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWR" ... SOMETHING LIKE THAT ! .. so also .

No egg form her today !

I want her to go broody but she's stupid and comes of the nest and is violent

thinking of moving her on her on her own but think she'll miss the company of her friend ! Miss Vor! .. who is laying away and content to be on her own.

i don't know what to do . I have eggs in the bator and was thinking of giving them to her but they are due next Sunday ??? i also have ones that i poped in yesterday?

Hens dont' stay on the nest 24/7 when they're setting eggs. They have to get off to go poop, eat, and drink. She flew off the nest like that because it's a way that chickens draw the attention of predators away from their eggs. If she flies off making a commotion, the predator would chase her or be startled and not realize where her eggs are hidden. It's all natural behavior.

If she's on the nest primarily most of the day and all night and making ugly sounds at chickens that come near her, she's being broody. You have to leave her something to sit, though, like fake eggs or mark some real eggs and leave them, otherwise she won't stay broody.

no .. she sits at random times .. like right now she is outside being really mean for an hour at least ... leaving the egg she was sitting on ... i'm mover her to her own pen now. it's a bit darker and have placed two eggs which are not fertile in with her ,,, just to see how she acts !
